ジョニー・キャッシュの2003年の死後に見つかった詩や歌詞、手紙をもとに2016年に出版された“Forever Words: The Unknown Poems”の中から、16組のミュージシャンがキャッシュの想いを歌にしたアルバム。
生前最後の録音となったクリス・コーネルの“You Never Knew My Mind”や、旬のミュージシャンのひとりロバート・グラスパーの“Goin', Goin', Gone”などが話題となっているが、やはりエルヴィス・コステロの“ I'll Still Love You”だろう。キャッシュの色を微塵も出さずにコステロ・ワールドと言える音作りがいい。
そして、T-ボーン・バーネット人脈の参加が著しい。ここではバーネットも“Jellico Coal Man”を歌っていたりする。
娘のロザンヌ・キャッシュ、カーレン・カーターやアリソン・クラウス、ジュエルの中にアイム・ウィズ・ハーの名前があったりするのもいい人選かもしれない。
買うのには躊躇する感じもするが、聴いておきたいアルバムのひとつだと思う。
