ロックとソウルのクラシックをカヴァーしたアルバムを挟んでリリースされた、ロッド・スチュワートの25枚目のアルバム。クライヴ・デイヴィスのプロデュース。
こういった続きものの企画アルバムってだんだんダレていくものだが、アメリカン・スタンダードの奥深さを感じられる選曲だ。まだまだ好きな曲がたくさん歌われている。
ボビー・ダーリンが歌った“Beyond the Sea”、シナトラの“I've Got You Under My Skin”、ペギー・リーが歌った“Fly Me to the Moon”などなど…ホントに聴いていて飽きない。
若干ロッドの声がかすれ気味なのが気になるが、それも魅力のひとつだろう。スウィング調の曲が多く、このシリーズのラストを飾るに相応しい選曲かもしれない。
聴いておきたいカヴァー・アルバムのひとつ。
