ベスト・アルバムを1枚挟んで、3年振りのオリジナル・アルバムのリリースとなった。そこにはバークの代表曲の“Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”や、シングルで1位となった“Got to Get You Off My Mind”が収録されている。
“King Solomon”と名付けられたこのアルバムは、南部のミュージシャンを呼んで新しい色を加えたアルバムとなり、R&Bチャートで11位のヒットとなった。
“Take Me (Just as I Am)”はダン・ペン=スプーナー・オールダムの書いた曲で、スプーナー・オールダムがオルガンの演奏を行っている。同年に発売されたアーサー・コンレイのアルバム“Sweet Soul Music”でも歌われている。
ソロモン・バークがノッている頃の名盤ひとつ。
