1958年2月に録音され6月に発売された、最晩年の傑作。情感に訴えかける掠れて荒れた声に圧倒されます。
この当時のビリー・ホリデイはワイルドなジャム・セッションをやりたいと思っておらず、またレイ・エリスの"Ellis in Wonderland"を気に入っており「レイのオケをバックに可愛らしく繊細なアルバムを作りたい」と強く望んでいたそうです。レイは連絡を受け「ビリー・ホリデイが自分を知っていたなんて！」と感激して受けたそうです。
発売されたこのアルバムは当時は酷評され、 The Penguin Guide to Jazz誌には「殴られている女性を盗み見ているようだ」、The Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide
誌では「厚着のレディー」「Billie's punch was gone」と書かれました。
