Carl And The Passionsの"So Tough"の位置づけがよく分かりませんが、とりあえず名作の"Sunflower(1970)" と "Surf's Up"(1971)に続く1973年の作品。アルバムは地味ながら良いできばえで、Elvis Costelloもお勧めに挙げています。
うつ病のブライアンの気分転換に良いだろうという提案に乗ってオランダに移動し作られたという作品。でも本人の希望を聴いての事ではなかったようです。ブライアンのストレスにしかならなかったような気がします。しかもこの作品のためにブライアンが作った自信作"Mount Vernon and Fairway (A Fairy Tale)"はメンバーに酷評され、レコードに入れられず、オマケEPとしてレコードに付けられました。ますますストレスになったでしょうねぇ・・・。
裏ジャケにテープでEPが付けられていたようで、ジャケにもEPのスリーヴにもテープ跡があるのが普通です。
