ポーランド出身の女性歌手。Genya Ravanが本名ですが、ナチスのホロコーストを生き延びてアメリカに渡ってから「ゴールディー」と呼ばれるようになったそうです。1963年にGoldie and The Gingerbreads を結成し、60年代の半ばに2年ほどは英国に住んでthe Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, the Kinks, Manfred Mannなどとツアーをしていたそうです。本作品は1970年代に発表された数枚のソロ・アルバムのうちの1枚です。
迫力ある作品です。オールマン・ブラザーズ・バンドのカヴァーが気に入りました。知りませんでしたが、これ「むち打ち刑に処す罪人を縛り付ける柱」だそうですね。
