Vanilla FudgeのCarmine AppiceとTim Bogertが組んだCactusが、Cactus(July 1, 1970), One Way... or Another(February 24, 1971), Restrictions(October 18, 1971), 'Ot 'n' Sweaty(August 28, 1972)の4枚を残して解散したのは有名ですね。
そのCactusの3-4作目に参加したDuane HitchingsがCactusのオリジナル・メンバーなしで結成したのがThe New Cactus Bandです（メンバーはDuane Hitchings, Jerry Norris, Mike Pinera, Roland Robinson）。雰囲気は全然違う、オーソドックスないかにも70年代のアメリカのロック・バンド。悪くはないです。
