"High Country Snows" is the ninth album by American singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg, released in 1985 (see 1985 in music). This album was a seminal part of Progressive Bluegrass, or "Newgrass", and featured many Bluegrass star players.
ダン・フォーゲルバーグのカントリー作品。僕が初めてリアルタイムで聴いたのはコレでした。アルバム「イノセント・エイジ」や代表曲「ロンガー」などを知っていて、シンガー・ソングライターと思っていたのでこの異色作には驚きました。今でこそDoc Watson・David Grisman・Jerry Douglas・Ricky Skaggsなども聴きますが、この時は「なんじゃこりゃあ！？」と驚いたものです。最初から最後まで充実した作品ですが、なかでもアカペラの1曲目から～疾走感が素晴らしい2曲目へのつながりが特に好きです。
