アンドレ・プレヴィンによるマクヒュー作品集。なんとライナー・ノートはマクヒュー本人です。
アルバム全編通してオケが入った甘いサウンドに好みはあるでしょうが。。。
ジミー・マクヒューといえば最も有名な作曲家の一人です。ジャズの超A級スタンダードである"I Can't Give You Anything But Love" と "On The Sunny Side Of The Street" を知らないジャズ・ファンはいないでしょうが、誰もが愛聴しているコルトレーンの超傑作 "Ballads"に収録された2曲 "Say It" と "Too Young to Go Steady" がマクヒュー作品と気がついていない人は意外と多いのではないでしょうか。ほかチェット・ベイカー好きには外せない"Let's Get Lost"なんかもマクヒューです。
個人的には、マクヒュー作品では "Exactly Like You" が好きです。多くのマクヒュー曲でコラボした名作詞家Dorothy Fieldsが付けた歌詞は、微笑ましく、また子供に伝えてあげたい「正しさ」がある、と思うのですが。
