Dream a Little Dream is the debut solo album by American singer Cass Elliot immediately after the breakup of The Mamas & the Papas, though she was still billed as "Mama Cass" for this release. Capitalizing on the success of her first solo song as the album's title, it was released on October 19, 1968 by Dunhill Records.
ざざっとネットで調べてみたところ・・・・
1965年春ごろ John & Michelle Phillips夫妻とDenny Doherty, Cass Elliotの4人でバンド結成。
バンド名が決まった夜にMichelle PhillipsとDenny Dohertyの不倫始まる（Johnが知った時期は不明）。
ちなみにCass ElliotはDenny Dohertyにプロポーズして断られている（時期不明）。
1965年11月 デビュー・シングル"Go Where You Wanna Go"発表。
1965年12月 セカンド・シングル"California Dreamin'"発表。
1966年3月 1作目"If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears"とシングル"Monday, Monday"発表。
1966年6月28日 John Phillipsが主導し、Michelle Phillipsをバンドから追放。
（Denny Dohertyと別れた後のMichelle PhillipsとバーズのGene Clarkの不倫が発覚したため）
1966年8月 2作目"The Mamas & the Papas"発表。
1966年8月23日 Michelle Phillipsがバンドに再加入
（代理で参加したJill Gibsonが上手く機能しなかったため）
1966年秋～ 3作目の録音開始。
1967年2月 3作目"Deliver"発表。
1967年4月26日 Cass Elliotが私生児出産。
1967年7月 Monterey International Pop Festivalに出演。
1968年5月 4作目"The Papas & The Mamas"発表。
1968年10月 Cass Elliotのソロ・デビュー作（本作品）発表。
1968年夏～年末ごろ バンド解散。
1970年 John & Michelle Phillips夫妻が離婚
1971年11月 "People Like Us"発表（契約の関係でもう一枚発表せざるを得なかったため）
こうやって時系列を見るとThe Mamas & the PapasというのはMichelle Phillipsに振り回されたバンドで、いちばん歌がうまかったCass Elliotがソロに転向するのも必然だったように思います。ただ、1974年の亡くなる直前にもMichelle Phillipsに電話でコンサートの報告をしていたそうなので、女性陣の関係はそれなりに良好だったのかな。
