Herbie Hancock “Future Shock”

もうアーティストについては、何も言うことはありませんね。そうです、ジャス畑では超有名なハービー・ハンコックです。では何故、私が持っていて、聴くのかと言うと、MTV盛んな80年代に聴いた”Rockit”が入っているからです。ジャズ畑なのに、このアルバムでは、大々的にシンセやスクラッチ、シーケンサー、サンプリングなどを用いて作り上げています。その当時のPV動画が人体を模したロボットなどが出てくるヤツなんですが、当時は、このPV動画が人間性の否定だとか非人間的だとか、一大論争を巻き起こしました。結果、この曲”Rockit”はグラミー賞まで取ることになりました。あと、今回、入手して、分かったことですが、当時、売り出し中だったBill LaswellのMaterialが全面的にバックアップしていたことです。なのでかどうかは分かりませんが、このようなジャズとかフュージョンとかにしては、スタンダードから余りにもかけ離れた作品が出来たのでしよう。他の曲ではジャズ・ヴォーカルが入ってきたりして、ありゃまぁとも思いますが、ジャス界のクラフトワークと言っても良いのではないでしょうか？クラフトワークの「人間解体」は1978年ですが、彼は1970年代初頭より電子音楽を自分の曲に注ぎ込む演奏を試行していたそうです。そう考えると、意外と彼の視点はユニークで、先進的な部分があったのでしよう。
