1982年にカナダのエベレスト遠征隊が登頂に成功したときに北米大陸でM4-PとR4を200台ずつ販売したという。カナダのコレクターから買わないかと手紙をもらった。ライカの一眼レフには興味がないし、カメラは原則として使うために買っているので初めは断ったのだが結局買ってしまった。興味がなかったので20年くらい前から行方不明になっていたが、今日引き出しの中のポリ袋の中に入っているのを見つけた。
It is said that when the Canadian Everest expedition succeeded in climbing the summit in 1982, 200 M4-P and 200 R4 were sold on the North American continent. I got a letter from a Canadian collector asking me to buy it. I'm not interested in Leica SLR cameras, and I bought a camera for use in principle, so I declined it at first, but I bought it after all. I had been missing for about 20 years because I wasn't interested, but today I found it in a plastic bag in a drawer.
