Aphasia

The craftsmanship of Bruce Gaitsch were fully filled in this second solo album. Compared with “Lyle In A Wibdstorm”, his first solo album released in 1995, this one was much versatile by songwriting collaborations with many acclaimed artists to write materials on this album. The album is opened by the contemporary jazz instrumental tune “Ten Below Zero” written with Randy Waldman, followed by “She Love You”, not Beatles cover, another instrumental co-written with Jay Graydon. Bluesy Bill Champlin sang the title track “Aphasia”. Karla Bonoff added gorgeousness to the album by beautiful ballads “If I Could Only” written by her with Richard Marx. Bruce’s longtime and old dude Marc Jordan contributed two songs, one of which were “Crucifix In Dreamland” that became the title track of Marc Jordan’s 2010 album later. “African Prince” written with a saxophonist Marc Russo was very unique and Janey Clewer’s vocal performance was so gooood! It was really nice to have Donna Delory on “Diane”, widely known as Madonna's backup singer in late 80’s and also her own 1992 self-titled solo release. Also bit surprised to have Cy Curnin, the lead singer of Fixx with “Their Finest Hour” too. For AOR / Westcoast lovers, “Letting Go” written and sang by Jason Scheff with Janey Clewer and Bruce, must be the one, very typical Scheff’s beautiful ballad type song.
Almost two years later, Japanese edition was finally released by Cool Sound Inc. with a bonus track as “Aphasia + 1”. The bonus track was interesting because Bruce Gaitsch himself took lead vocal.
