Following “All I Need” success, Jack Wagner’s second album "Lighting Up The Night" was released in 1985. Jay Graydon wrote a song titled "Too Young" with David Foster, Steve Kipner and Donny Osmond. There are other remarkable tunes including this second album such as the album title tune "Lighting Up The Night" was written by Diane Warren and Jeff Lorber and an beautiful ballads "I'll Be There" was written by Michael Caruso and Geoff Leib (aka Jeff Paris). In 1980’s, Wagner released another album "Don't Give Up Your Day Job" in 1987, the last one on Qwest Records. 1988 was the special year for AOR lovers in Japan because Ned Doheny restarted his musical career. This must be one of the late 1980's best AOR / Westcoast albums. After releasing 3 original albums by 1993, coming to Japan as a member of Jay Graydon Allstars in the winter of 1996 and then playing the guitar on Joseph Williams’ third solo album "3", we had no chance to listen to his vocals and new materials performed unfortunately until 2010 when Doheny was back with the brand new album “The Darkness Beyond The Fire”. Release: 25 November, 1988 Label: Geronimo - Polystar Co.,Ltd., Japan (P33R-25004) Tracks: 1. Whatcha Gonna Do For Me ? 2. Love's A Heartache 3. 'Til Kingdom Come 4. Follow Your Heart 5. LaBounty first album was opened by “Lie To Me”, self-remake version was later included on his second solo album “This Night Won’t Last Forever”. And “Crazy”, “I Hope You'll Be Very Unhappy Without Me” and “Open Your Eyes” were also self-remade on the second. It seems to be those four songs on both albums are using same basic tracks. However, it must be interesting for you if you will compare both versions to find out how LaBounty would remake on the second album. Speaking of CD reissue, it could not be achieved until 2017, despite that Warner Music France successfully released 4 CDs Box Set “Time Starts Now - the Definitive Box Set Anthology” in 2011 which featured several tracks from the first album. With Bill LaBounty and also Jay Senter, the producer of the album, the first albumCD reissue was planned in 2010’s by Japanese label, but due to certain copyright issue, it was not materialised then. Hence, the Big Pink edition licensed from Captain Crystal Music was supposedly reissued without using original master tapes, thus someone pointed out the dynamic range was not good enough. Release: 1975 Label: 20th Century Records, USA (T-492) First Reissued CD Release: August, 2017 (Big Pink Music, South Korea, BIGPINK 512)* Tracks: 1. Lie To Me 2. Together 3. Crazy 4. When LaBounty started to prepare his second album, his contract with 20th Century Records was not yet terminated. As a result, Warner-Curb Records decided to acquire the contractual duties and rights from 20th Century, thus the second album “This Night Won’t Last Forever” featuring 4 self-remakes from the first album ‘Promised Love’. And the second album title sing “This Night Won’t Last Forever” was released as the last single records on 20th Century Records, but was just number 65 on Billboard Pop Chart for 2 weeks, but Michael Johnson also covers the same and this version ranked number 19 in1979. LaBounty’s third album sounds more jazzy than the second, I think. The personal best track of this album is “I’m Hurtin” co-written by Michael Johnson. Otherwise, “What About You” co-written by Michael Freeland. Another difference from the second album recording must be supporting musicians involved; neither Porcaro, Sklar, nor Ritenour. But well produced again by Jay Senterl Label: Curb Records, USA (BSK 3316) First Reissued CD Release: 19 January, 1991 (Curb Records - BMG Victor, Japan BVCP-2002) Tracks: 1. Dancin' Tonight 2. The fifth solo album of LaBounty was self-titled. This album must deserve one of the golden age AOR / Westciast masterpiece albums. Whilst the former three albums were Jay Santer’s production, for this album LaBounty had Russ Titelman as the producer. In around 1980, Russ Titelman was known for his production such 1979 George Harrison’s self-titled album and Rickie Lee Jones 1981 album “Pirates”. The album opener “Livin' It Up” is a killer song. Japanese LP Records and 3rd-time reissued CD (2000 version) are released with the different jacket as the second photo, but the contents are totally the same as original edition. The highest chart position of the track "Never Gonna Look Back" from the album "Bill LaBounty" was number 110 on Billboard Pop Chart (number 22 on Adult Contemporary Chart). Release: 1982 Label: Curb Records, USA (WB K 56 988) First Reissued CD Release: 19 January, 1991 (Curb Records - BMG Victor, Japan BVCP-2003) Tracks: 1. Livin' It Up 2. Didn't Want To Say Goodbye 3.
