The Mattel Dream Mobile is actually the first toy vehicle created by Mattel that predated Hot Wheels. Elliot Handler and Joseph Kossof designed them in 1953 in 1/24 scale with a removable top. The Hot Wheels version of the Dream Mobile is a tribute to Mattel's humble beginnings for making scale vehicles.
