Greg Guidry / Over The Line

0

Greg Guidry (Gregory Mark Guidry) was born in St. Louis, Missiles on January 23, 1954. His musical journey started in 1977 when Guidry moved to Nashville. In 1977, he signed a deal with CBS Songs Publishing. Guidry started singwriting and peformed with various bands during that time. In 1979, "In It For Love" was recorded by England Dan & John Ford Coley and climbed up the chart. Guidry’s another song "Gotta Have More Love" by Climax Blues Band followed. In 1981, Robbie Dupree also recorded "Are You Ready For Love" for his second solo album "Street Corner Heroes". Thus, Guidry became known as a talented songwriter in the beginning of 1980's. It is quite natural that Guidry secured his own solo artist deal with Columbia Records in 1982. The first solo LP "Over The Line" was released in 1982, that included a hit song titled "Goin' Down" that peaked at number 17 on Billboard Hot 100, self-cover versions of "Gotta Have More Love" and "Are You Ready For Love". During the 1980’s, Guidry continued to do songwriting work later in the 1980s for Sony and EMI Music Publishing, and collaborated with songwriters like Bill LaBounty, Steve Kipner (GENIE IN A BOTTLE and LET'S GET PHYSICAL) and Jeff Silbar (WIND BENEATH MY WINGS). Guidry did not release a follow-up album until 2000. Lastly, it should be noted that Greg Guidry passed away on 28 July, 2003 by fire of his residence. R.I.P
