Rick Manwiller / Living At Square One
Rick Manwiller was a member of a progressive rock band called Steph which broke up in late 1981. He was auditioned by Dakota and joined the band in 1982, just before starting the recordings of the band’s second album ‘Runaway”. After Dakota stopped to perform in 1986 whilst released the album “Lost Tracks” locally, Manwiller continued to work with Jerry Hludzik. Jerry and Rick experimented with writing country music and subsequently restarted to release Dakota’s albums in mid 1990’s. In parallel, Manwiller started his own solo project. In 1996, the first solo effort “... Another Fine Mesozoic” was self-released on CD-R. The second one followed in the summer of 1998. The recording was started from August 1997 and ended in July 1998.
Dakota reunited in 2014 to record a brand-new album, titled "Long Road Home" and the album was released on 30 September 2015, but Rick Manwiller was not with them. After hard fight against cancer, Rick Manwiller passed away on 20 January, 2016 at the age of 61.
