The 2023 Daytona 24 Hours was the first race for the LMDh spec cars. For the BMW team, it was not a good showing pace-wise. They were pretty much outpaced by every other GTP cars in the field. There were also some issues with the cars, with the No. 25 car actually being the first of the GTP cars to have some sort of problem during the race. Eventually though, the No. 24 car would finish 6th overall and in class, finishing above the Porsche GTP cars who had problems, but still 15 laps behind the race-winning Acura.
Regarding the car itself, it is based on a Dallara chassis but with some added BMW elements to the car. The most noticeable, in my opinion, would be the huge front grilles. Now I am not a fan of these modern front grilles on BMW cars but I do think they actually look quite nice on this car. The car would actually have its first and, so far, only win in the Watkins Glen 6 Hours of the same year.
