Proteus 復活計画

1998年に発表された「E-mu Proteus 2000」をソフトシンセにしたのが「Proteus VX」です。



この「Proteus 2000」、かなりの名機だったようです。

10年ほど前に、「Proteus VX」はフリー版が公開されたのですが・・・



E-muが無償公開したソフトシンセ「Proteus VX」

　先日、Creative Technology傘下にあるE-mu SystemsからProteus VXというソフトシンセが無償で公開された。スタンドアロンで利用できるソフトであるとともに、VSTプラグインとしても利用可能なWindows版のソフトだが、標準で1,024音色も備える音源であり、音色的にも結構使える音が多数収録されている。これがタダで使えるとなると、かなり嬉しい音源であるが、実際どんなものなのか試してみた。

開発元の「E-MU Systems」は、 今はヘッドフォンのメーカーなっているようです。

「Proteus」には「Air Gamelan」などの使える音色がたくさんあり、とても便利に使っていました。



アルバム「FANT-ASIA」では、録音に「Proteus」の音源を使っています。

この「Proteus VX」、もうネットからはダウンロードできないので、引き出しに眠っているUSBメモリーを片っ端から調べたら、インストーラのバックアップを見つけました。


ということで、なんとか「Proteus VX」が復活！


「Proteus VX」は、16チャンネルに別々の音色を割り当てることができます。



これはGMのようなマルチティンバーの音源で、「サクラ」ではトラック毎にチャンネルの指定をするようにします。



「Proteus VX」側では、音色を切り替えるプログラムチェンジの情報は拾わないように設定。




なんとか「Proteus VX」を復活させることができたので、「SoundScape 2019」の4トラック版を「Proteus VX」を音源にして録音してみました。
