35th Anniversary of the Snake and Mongoose Match Races

In 1970, Mattel sponsored two identically equipped Funny Cars which ran in highly publicized match-races. The men behind the wheels of these tire-smokin', wheelie-poppin', nitro-guzzlin', Funny Cars were two of drag racing's biggest stars - the legendary Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and NHRA champion, Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. These promotional events proved to be so popular they became a highly celebrated part of drag racing history.

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of these famous face-offs we present these custom models of the Snake and Mongoose Funny Cars - fitting tributes to the thrill, speed and power of the '70s funny cars.
