Galdston & Thom is widely known for their later band "Far Cry" that released "The More Things Change" (1980). Patty Weaver
Patty Weaver is known for her acting career rather than as a singer. She played on daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives” from 1976 to 1982 and on “The Young and the Restless” from 1982 to 2009. Before launching her acting career, Weaver formed the rock 'n roll band the Loved Ones and continued her singing career and released several albums; “Patty Weaver Sings 'As Time Goes By' “ (1976), then, "Feeling" (1976) under RE/SE Records, USA, that features pops masterpiece tunes such as "I Honestly Love You" performed by Olivia Newton John, which were arranged more Jazzy. In 1978, Patty released another album titled "No One's Ever Seen This Side Of Me" under the same label, on which Patty covered Eagles' "Take It To The Limit",Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" and so on. In 1982, this self-titled album was released on major label; Warner Bros. Records. This is another Steve Barri's excellent producing works in late 1970's or early 1980's. As you easily guess, Robbie Buchanan's arrangement made this album's atmosphere into the same one as that of "Maxus / Maxus". Patty sings emotionally and energetic being supported by awesome Westcoast studo musicians. Release: 1982 Label: Warner Bros. Roger Voudouris / Radio Dream
California native Roger Voudouris released his self-titled solo debut album in 1978, following two albums as the duo unit Voudouris / Kahne. The next move was the successful second solo album titled "Radio Dream" in 1979, including his "Get Used To It" written by Michael Omartian and Voudouris, that climbed to number 21 on the Billboard Top 100 and also reached number 4 in Australia. On this second album, Voudouris established his Westcoast-styled American Rock, that had listeners feel the clear and dry air in California, with Los Angeles top musicians such as Jay Graydon and Randy Brecker. In addition to his commercial success in his home country and Australia, Voudouris became very popular in Japan also. Two more solo albums “A Guy Like Me" (1980) and "On The Heels Of Love" (1981) Voudouris released, Voudouris came back as the executive music producer and the co-owner of the contemporary Jazz / New-Age music label Artful Balance Records in 1986, Randy Waldman, David Diggs and many more released their leader albums in late 1980’s and early 1990’s under the label. Roger Voudouris
Roger Voudouris, born in Sacramento, California, USA on December 29, 1954 got the first chance to release his musical materials with David Kahne as the duo unit "Voudouris / Kahne" in 1975 on their first album "There's A Secret Goin' On" and followed by the album "Street Player" in 1976, both of which could not sell well. In 1978, Roger restarted as a solo artist under Warner Bros with his first solo album "Roger Voudouris". I wonder if I should explain tunes on this album are said to be a kind of late 1970's energetic California Rock'n' Roll with blue-eyed Soul flavors here and there. In 1979, his second solo album "Radio Dream" including his Billboard Top 30 hit "Get Used To It" followed. Then “A Guy Like Me" (1980) and "On The Heels Of Love" (1981) Voudouris also released. Chunky, Novi & Earnie (1977)
The first album of the trio did not sell well. Therefore they lost deal with Reprise Records, Warner Bros. once. However they succeeded to resign with Warner Bros. Records again with their second self-titled album "Chunky, Novi & Earnie" in 1977. I believe you feel that second album is totally different from first one because there are many contemporary pop tunes here and there. However, the second album did not sell well again. As the result, the next effort of the trio was released as Lauren Wood featuring Novi & Ernie, giving spotlights to Lauren Wood in 1979. Release: 1977 Label: Warner Bros. Did you know who Ilene Rappaport is? Needless to say, I did not know. This is the actual name of Chunky, later well-known as Lauren Wood. Since Chunky, Novi & Earnie albums were not successful, the trio was released as Lauren Wood featuring Novi & Ernie, giving spotlights to Lauren Wood in 1979. When you listen to Chunky, Novi & Earnie's first album, even though you are fully aware that this is 1973 album, I believe you are not so touched. This is the only one solo album of Brian Elliot, one of the singer / songwriters with the soft & mellow and free-soul feeling. In late 70's, many soft & mellow city-pop style albums strongly influenced by Boz Scaggs' "Silk Degrees" were released. Brian's solo album deserves one of the masterpiece albums among them. If you like Kenny Lankin, try this album too. For your information, Brian wrote 1986 # 1 hit tune "Papa Don't Preach" performed by Madonna. Release : 1978 Label : Warner Bros. If you have a chance to listen to their fourth album "Special Touch", you may find the difference of their music style.
