1962 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE (W111) #711 (Argentine Touring Car GP)
Matchbox 1/64 Matchbox Special (2020) Series: 1962 Argentine Touring Car Grand Prix Class: G Team: Mercedes Drivers: Ewy Rosqvist, Ursula Wirth (co-driver) Result: 1st overall, 1st in G This car is quite iconic as they managed to win the Argentine Touring Car Grand Prix rally overall, beating more than 200 other entrants. What made this even more special is the fact that they didn't just win, they also swept all the stages of the event and set some speed records too. They also finished I believe 3 hours ahead of the 2nd place finisher which I think is just mind-blowing.

2004 Renault Megane 3-Door Hatchback (Mk. 2) #15B (Andros Trophy - Val Thorens)
Series: 2004-2005 Andros Trophy - Val Thorens Stage Class: Elite Driver: Philippe Gervoson Results: 32nd in Day 1, 30th in Day 2 I got this older release from Majorette. The info about the real car is actually quite scarce, as well as the pictures. In fact, most of the info I was able to find were either in French or in the website called "prostfan" which I believe posts the results of all the races that Alain Prost has participated in. This car in particular participated in the 2004-2005 edition of the Andros Trophy. The Andros Trophy is French ice rally competition held every December of the year until January of the following year. I believe they also held some races outside of France but I am not sure how often they held those. Other than Alain Prost, there have been several other famous racing drivers who participated in this race such as Martin Brundle, Olivier Panis, and Yvan Muller. I'm pretty sure there are several others as well but they were the names I encountered when doing some research that I actually remembered. The pictures I've seen of the actual car actually have the B crossed out in the numberplate which kind of makes it look like 15B but the line that goes through is actually diagonal instead of being fully horizontal. It seems that there were 2 drivers who drove the #15 car during the Val Thorens stage of the 2004-2005 edition: Laurent Battut as #15 and Philippe Gervoson as #15B. Now I do apologize because I am not familiar with either of the drivers but it seems that Battut is the full season driver while the drivers of the #15B car would change every now and then as the aforementioned Martin Brundle actually drove it in one of the other stages. Unfortunately, I believe the championship just held its final edition last December to January because global warming has made it difficult for the organizers to find ice and snow in France. I would also like to add that I will try finding an additional copy of this casting and then just put a line on the B to kind of replicate the #15 car driven by Laurent Battut.

2012 Lotus Exige R-GT (Black and Gold)
Tomica 1/64 Tomica No. 10 (2014) Car: Lotus Exige R-GT Year: 2012 Color: Black and Gold The Lotus Exige R-GT was introduced back in 2011 with plans on having it compete in the newly introduced R-GT class in FIA rally competition. One of the notable things under the R-GT regulation is that the cars are supposed to run as two-wheel drive cars, unlike the rather common four-wheel drive that is seen on most rally cars. The Exige R-GT I believe first appeared in the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show where it was sporting a different livery which was also done by Tomica. This John Player Special-esque livery I believe is based on the version of the car that ran in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2012. I believe the car only participated in a single race in which it crashed out and was never seen again in competition afterwards. The R-GT class itself I believe isn't really that successful although as far as I know, they lasted until like 2022 or 2023. Sadly my knowledge about rally stuff is rather limited, and even more so regarding not too popular classes like the R-GT class. The casting by Tomica seems to be accurate to the Frankfurt Motor Show version but is a bit different compared to the Goodwood version. In particular, the fog lights do not appear on the Goodwood version of the car but I can't really find any other major difference really. Tomica would also do another R-GT class car, the Abarth 124 R-GT, which I already posted before.

2000 Peugeot 206 WRC (Red)
Realtoy 1/64 Car: Peugeot 206 WRC Year: 2000 Color: Red This is, in my opinion, one of the best looking Realtoy castings. I was actually surprised that these seem to be unlicensed. I'm basing this off the lack of the model name at the base of the car as well as the lack of Peugeot badging. Based on the front bumper, I am assuming that this is based on the 2000 version of the Peugeot 206 WRC. The Peugeot 206 WRC was initially entered in the World Rally Championship in the 1999 season. The car was not too successful that season but in the following season, the Peugeot team won both the drivers and the constructors championships. Peugeot would go on to win the "double" once again in 2002. These examples by Realtoy only have plain colors which is a bit disappointing for me. I do not think Realtoy ever released this casting in realistic liveries. What I also like a lot about this casting is the interior. I think the racing seats are really done well and really add a lot to the casting.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R #3 (Daytona 24H)
Majorette 1/64 Car: Chevrolet Corvette C7.R #3 Series: 2014 Daytona 24 Hours Class: GTLM Team: Corvette Racing Drivers: Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Ryan Briscoe Result: DNF The casting isn't exactly a Corvette C7.R. It's pretty much just a normal Corvette C7 with a rear wing. Still, the livery is definitely based on the C7.R liveries though it's hard to pinpoint which one exactly since they all pretty much look the same. I just decided to list this one as the 2014 entry since that was the first year of competition for the car.

1970 Porsche 917 K #3 (Paris 1000km)
Majorette 1/64 Car: Porsche 917 K #3 Series: 1970 Paris 1000km Class: S Team: Gesipa Drivers: Willi Kauhsen, Jurgen Neuhaus Result: DNF Majorette's Porsche 917 K casting is definitely one of my favorites from them. What makes me appreciate them even more is that pretty much every release of it are based on actual cars. This one in particular is based on the Gesipa entry in the 1970 Paris 1000km race. Unfortunately, although the car qualified well, it didn't finish the race. If I remember correctly, the 1970 Paris 1000km race is also notable for being Jack Brabham's final race as a full-time driver. He did make some one-off appearances in the later years though, mostly in the Bathurst 1000 races in Australia.

1970 Porsche 917 K #35 (WSC Watkins Glen 6H)
Majorette 1/64 Car: Porsche 917 K #35 Series: 1970 World Sportscar Championship - Watkins Glen 6 Hours Class: S5.0 Team: International Martini & Rossi Racing Team Drivers: Gerard Larrousse, Gijs van Lennep Result: 9th overall, 8th in S5.0 I think I've mentioned before that this particular Porsche 917 K also participated in a Can Am race held during the same weekend as the Watkins Glen 6 Hours in pretty much the same deco. Personally, I have the car listed as the Watkins Glen 6 Hours entry.
