Tighten Up is an album by American funk band Archie Bell & the Drells, released under Atlantic in 1968. The design of the album cover was by Loring Eutemey. instrumental backing provided by the T.S.U Tornadoes. members included Cal Thomas and Will Thomas on guitar, Jerry Jenkins on bass, Robert Sanders on organ, Dwight Burns on drums, Darryl Bursby on sax, Clarence Harper on trumpet, and Leroy Lewis and Nelson Mills on horns.
中学生の頃、ラジオでオールディーズ特集を聴いているときにこの曲・バンドを知りました。DJの「次は "Tighten Up" 」という紹介がどうしても聞き取れなくて、録音したカセット・テープを繰り返し聞いて、結局「タイトンアップ」と書き留めたのを覚えています。ワンパターンですが、妙に耳に残りますね。ちなみに次作「アイ・キャント・ストップ・ダンシング」も同じ曲みたい。。。
