ドイツのグラモフォン・レコードからリリースされた、スティングの8枚目のアルバム。スティングとエディン・カラマーゾフのプロデュース。
このアルバムは、イングランドのリュート奏者のジョン・ダウランドの曲を、カラマーゾフのリュートをバックにスティングが歌っている。“Have You Seen The Bright Lily Grow”はリュート奏者のロバート・ジョンソンのカヴァーとなっている。
クラシックの名門レーベルからリリースされているだけにスティングの本気の度合いが高く、“...And From Thence I Had Great Desire To See Italy...”と“My Lord Willoughby's Welcome Home”ではスティングの演奏するアーチリュートを聴くことが出来る。
全英のアルバム・チャートで24位、全米で25位、全米のクラシック・チャートでは1位となった。
