ボブ・ディランのブートレッグ・シリーズの第2弾。
今回は1966年5月17日、イギリスのマンチェスターにあるフリー・トレード・ホールでのライヴ録音。
前半はアコースティック・ギターでの弾き語りで、後半はバンドを従えてのライヴとなっている。
バンドは後にザ・バンドとなるザ・ホークスからロビー・ロバートソン(g)、リック・ダンコ(b)、リチャード・マニュエル(key)、ガース・ハドソン(b)と、ミッキー・ジョーンズ(ds)となっている。
しかし、このアルバムのタイトルは“ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール”となっている。これはこの日の録音を、ホントの“海賊盤”が間違えてリリースしたためにそのまま付けられた。
