サンタナの23枚目のアルバム。サンタナのプロデュース。
“IV”と付けられているタイトルから、1971年にリリースされた“Santana III”の続きとなっていることがわかる。当時のメンバーを集めて録音されたこのアルバムは、34年という歳月の流れを感じさせない内容となっている。
“Love Makes the World Go Round”と“Freedom in Your Mind”では、ロナルド・アイズレーをゲストに迎えている。やはり、時代を作ったヴォーカリストの参加は嬉しいものだ。
そして、最近アナログを見据えてアルバムの曲数が減ってきているが、このアルバムは16曲とフル・ヴォリュームで収録されているのが嬉しい。
