レイド・バックした作品を出し続けたおかげですっかり「過去の人」扱いだったクラプトンの再ブレイクは、このアルバムあたりからだったと思います。いかにも80年代風の派手なサウンドに変貌したこの作品を聴いて、中学生の僕に「レイラ」やら「スローハンド」などを教えてくれていた年配の友人なんかは「レコード間違ったかと思たわ！」と怒りながらケチョンケチョンに言ってました。僕としてはリアル・タイムで聴いた初めての作品でしたので思い入れがあります。実際、歌いたくなるいい曲が多いと思うんですよ。タイトル曲はその頃に耳コピしてよく弾いてました。いま弾いてみたら、なんと、ちゃんと覚えてました。若い頃の記憶力ってやつは、すごいですね！
