ジャケ写真が1980年12月8日、つまりジョンが殺された日の朝に撮影された写真だというのはあまりにも有名ですね。

この「Quiex Ⅱ」と呼ばれるシリーズは、高音質カッティングで知られるシリーズです。1980年代前半を中心に、プロモ盤で使われました（稀に1st pressでも使われたと読んだことがありますが、未確認です）。このタイプのレコではジャケに「QuiexⅡ」のシールが貼られ、ゴールド・スタンプが押され、またレコは塩ビの材質の違いのためのようですが光にかざすと茶色の透光性を示します。聴いたことのある人はご存じでしょうが、確かに良いオトでなりますよ ♪

ちなみにQuiexⅡで最も有名なのが恐らく"Donald Fagen / The Nightfly"で、次いでこの"John Lennon / The John Lennon Collection"と"Dire Straits / Brothers In Arms"です。ほか"George Harrison / Gone Troppo" や "Paul Simon / Hearts And Bones"も良いオトで鳴りました。通常盤に比べるとかなり高めのことが多いですが、希少性というだけでないので、見かけたら押さえる価値があると思いますよ。
